No.35 Quay Street

This is the middle and largest of our three stunning Quay Street Cottages. With its extendable dining table, seating up to 16, No. 35 is the ideal gathering point for your family and friends, should you arrange to book two or more of these cottages together for a special occasion. This cottage has been lovingly refurbished and strikingly decorated and furnished, without losing any of its original features and character. Full central heating and a wood burner in the sitting room makes it equally cosy and inviting for a smaller party or couple just wanting to get away from it all.

Lower Town’s tiny old harbour is still the base for local fishermen, and visitors often live off locally caught crab and lobster for a whole week in the summer! This unique little quayside is a paradise for energetic walkers, birdwatchers, sailors and keen “crabbers”. The main occupation of most children visiting the quay is to sit with bucket and line, baited with an old bone or bacon rind, catching crabs for hours and hours, finishing with a triumphant rush of crabs released down the slipway for the next day’s excitement. No child should grow up without this experience!

No.35 Quay Street is just a few minutes walk back along the quay to the historic Ship Inn for a pint of real ale and a warm local welcome. Alternatively, in spring and summer months, The Cafe on the Quay serves up a delicious (freshly caught) crab salad or sandwich. The world famous Pembrokeshire Coastal Path goes through Lower Town and you can jump on the Poppet Rocket or the Strumble Shuttle to access the path further north or south and walk “home”!

Inside No. 35 there is a comfy, welcoming sitting room with three big sofas and an easy chair, a wood-burning stove, shelves of undemanding paperbacks for holiday reads, Free Sat TV, DVD and Video player. Free WiFi is also available. A cupboard full of old videos, DVDs, games and jigsaws provide endless fun in occasional wild, wet, Welsh weather. Free WiFi is also available. To the left of the front hall is the dining room & kitchen, with an oil-fired stove (which runs the central heating) in the chimney fawr, an easy chair and long dining table, with benches and stools.

Well equipped kitchen

The kitchen is very well equipped and fully fitted as well as having a larder fridge, microwave and double oven five-ring dual fuel cooker – and there’s ample crockery, cutlery and glass for everyone. The utility room at the back of the cottage has a washing machine and freezer and leads to a large wet room with shower, toilet and big sink, ideal for sloshing sand off numerous children. Outside the back door there are wooden steps up to a tiny terrace that’s a real sun-trap in summer.

Upstairs are three good sized bedrooms; the main room has a sea view, a king-sized bed, washbasin, effective airing cupboard, plenty of hanging space and a chest of drawers. The other two bedrooms have twin beds and a chest of drawers each, and one has a harbour view. The bathroom, also with a sea view, has a bath with shower, washbasin and toilet.

We have had guests who are wheelchair users and find this cottage very satisfactory as they can sleep downstairs in the back of the sitting room.

All beds will be made up with fresh linen and tea towels & hand towels are provided. Please bring your own bath and beach towels. A camp cot, high chair and stair gate are available on request although cot bedding is not provided. Sticks, firelighters and a basket of logs will be available on your arrival.

Cars can be parked directly outside against the cottage walls.

From the Visitor’s Book – No. 35

A perfect holiday! Thank you so much for taking so much care to make us comfortable. We have so enjoyed exploring the coast and countryside & fantastic views. Next time we will just sit ands relax on the quay.

Penny Souster & John Tooley

We had a fun time all week and we went crabbing and caught two crabs. We had an amazing time.

A very happy stay in a lovely place. We will have to come again. Absolutely delighted with No.35 – the locals are all so very friendly.

Michael and Lynda Rose, Dorset

We all enjoyed crabbing from the quay, sunny beaches & rainy walks – nice to the wood burner. Lovely cottage, thank you.
