No 29 Old Newport Road
Just up the old hill above Lower Town, you’ll find a little more peace from the bustle of the quayside in No 29 Old Newport Road, this beautifully refurbished and cheerfully decorated little cottage. Well-equipped and comfortably furnished for five, it’s a perfect base for a family holiday or an ideal hideaway for one seeking space and tranquility to write or walk or simply rest. Behind the house is a small, secluded, terraced garden, a calm sun trap or a pleasant spot for a barbecue.
Inside No.29 Old Newport RoadThe shops, cinema, Tourist Information Centre, pubs, cafes and restaurants of Fishguard are a brisk fifteen minute walk away. Market Day is on Thursday and the popular Farmers Market runs throughout the year on Saturday morning, both held in the Town Hall on the main Square. Less than five minutes walk away is The Ship Inn in Lower Town, the source of a good pint and much local colour and character, while along the quay is Fishguard Bay Yacht Club and, in the spring and summer months, The Cafe on the Quay, serving delicious freshly caught crab, light lunches and teas.
Up a set of characterful slate steps, the front door to the cottage leads to a bright, cosy sitting room with two sofas and an easy chair, a very effective wood burning stove, Free Sat TV and night store heater; the kitchen has newly fitted units with a dual fuel cooker (electric oven and gas hob), dishwasher, washing-machine, microwave, larder fridge and freezer and a night store heater. The table seats six and can be extended if needed. By the back door is a small cloakroom and WC with washbasin.
Stairs lead up from the kitchen to three bedrooms, the bathroom and an effective airing cupboard, with solar hot water & immersion heater. The main bedroom has a double bed, fitted wardrobe and a sea view. The second bedroom, at the back of the cottage, has twin beds and a fitted wardrobe and the third, small bedroom has a single bed and a sea view. The bathroom has a bath and separate shower, WC, washbasin and a heated towel rail. The backyard leads up steep slate steps to a small terraced garden area. There is good off-road parking for two cars to the side of the house.
